It is a great and busy time for the #interconnector Greece-Bulgaria as the project marks another month of good construction progress. Nearly 120km of line pipes have been welded and over 70 km have already been lowered, with trenching and backfilling activities following at a steady pace.

The EPC contractor has also started with the temporary works for one of the two most challenging parts of the #IGB route – the #HDD  crossing under Maritza River. The civil works are now completed and the pipes delivered on site, ready for the next activities - automatic #welding, NDT, application of special insulation, hydrotests, #construction  of entrance and exit drilling pits and deployment of the boring rig.

The actual drilling works under the river bed are scheduled to start in the beginning of the summer in compliance with the approved Environmental Impact Assessment. ICGB and its contractors working on the IGB #pipeline are dedicated to ensuring the entire process is carried out in a safe manner with respect to the local wildlife.
