“2015 was a decisive moment for #IGB  – prior to the final investment decision many people, international institutions and foreign partners didn’t believe such project can happen in Bulgaria and the #interconnector  was considered wishful thinking. After 6 years of heading the company, I have to say the #ICGB  team overcame numerous challenges and unexpected difficulties so we can be here today and talk about the progress on site and the actual construction works taking place”, ICGB Executive Officer Teodora Georgieva tells 24 Chasa Daily in an interview. 

“We use #EU funding and money that comes with state guarantee, making the IGB project very different compared to other major energy infrastructure endeavours in the country like Balkan Stream - we undergo regular independent audits by international institutions, there are extensive procedures and strict requirements we must fulfil. This may seem more difficult and time-consuming, but it gives us enhanced security that all we do is perfected and complies entirely with the best practices in the field”, Georgieva notes.
